(ANSA) - Rome, November 28 - More than 15,000 fewer births
were registered in 2017 than the previous year, ISTAT said
Wednesday.
Last year 458,151 babies were born in Italy, the statistics
agency said.
Over the course of three years, from 2014 to 2017, ISTAT
said, there was a drop of around 45,000 births, while the fall
with respect to 2008 was almost 120,000.
The drop was sharpest for families where both the parents are
Italian, ISTAT said.
