(ANSA) - Rome, November 28 - Deputy Premier Luigi Di Maio on Wednesday released his income tax returns and assets statements in response to what he called "lies" about a firm led by his father that allegedly hired workers off the books and allegedly covered up workplace accidents.
Di Maio has been accused of involvement in the case by having an alleged stake in the company in his home town of Pomigliano d'Arco near Naples.
"Today, as promised, I publish the documents showing the hiring in my father's firm and the respective wage packets for the period of work," he said. He said on the blog of his 5-Star Movement (M5S) that he wanted "maximum transparency".
"I'm publishing again, seeing the lies that are circulating, my property and income statements since I have been an MP and since I have been a minister".
