(ANSA) - Rome, November 23 - Thousands of operations slated for Friday in Italian hospitals are set to be postponed due to a 24-hour strike called by 120,000 doctors and veterinarians. Those on strike are demanding more funds for the public healthcare sector, which unions have said is "on the verge of collapse", as well as the renewal of the collective sector contract, which has not been updated for 10 years. Minister of Health Giulia Grillo said that "there are enough resources to honor the pledges made for the 2019-2021 contract renewals".
