(ANSA) - Strasbourg, October 24 - The European Parliament on
Wednesday voted to ban throwaway plastic by 2021.
The ban covers single-use products like cutlery, cotton buds,
plates, straws, drink mixers and balloon sticks, which make up
70% of marine refuse.
The EP will begin negotiations with the European Council on
the issue.
