'2 or 3 smoke sources will be extinguished this afternoon'

(ANSA) - Milan, October 19 - A waste dump blaze that has been spewing foul-smelling fumes over Milan since Sunday is now "virtually out", sources said Friday.
Fire services are "in the final stage" of extinguishing the fire on the Lombard capital's northern outskirts, the sources said.
"The fire is practically out," said fire service command, "and we expect to put out the last two or three sources with minimal smoke emissions by this afternoon".
The local branch of environmental agency ARPA said there had been a "foreseeable" rise in dioxin levels in the Milanese air because of the fire.
The blaze was thus to be classified of "low to medium impact", ARPA said.
