(ANSA) - Brussels, October 17 - European Parliament President
Antonio Tajani on Wednesday called on the Italian government to
make a U-turn on its budget plans, saying they risked getting
the thumbs down from the European Commission.
"Italy is still in time to reverse. It should do so rapidly,
in the interest of the Italian people," Tajani told reporters
when asked whether it was possible that the EC would not give
the green light to the plan.
"I hope this does not happen, but there's a strong risk.
"The budget does not go in the direction of the interests (of
Italy)".
