Libya migrant jails like gulags - pope

(ANSA) - Rome, October 17 - Libya's migrant jails are like concentration camps or gulags, Pope Francis told Jesuits in Vilnius on September 23, it emerged on Wednesday.
    "I'm thinking of footage that shows the situation of some prisons in north Africa built by human traffickers," he said.
    "When governments send back those who had succeeded in saving themselves, the traffickers put them in those prisons, where the most horrible tortures are practised.
    "We rend our garments today for what the Communists, Nazis and Fascists did...but today? Isn't it happening today too? Certainly, it's done with white, silken gloves".
