Dad gets 13 yrs for trying to sell daughter into marriage

(ANSA) - Florence, October 4 - A 50-year-old Serbian Roma man got 13 years in jail Thursday for keeping his underage daughter locked up at home from 2013 until 2016 and trying to sell her into marriage.
    The girl was kept indoors because the man had promised her to a fellow Roma relative living in France.
    The case emerged after she asked a Sicilian boy for help via a smartphone game chat room.
    She had also started eating a lot in the hope that she would get so fat her planned spouse would not want her any more.
