(ANSA) - New Delhi, September 20 - Pope Francis has removed an Indian bishop accused by a nun of repeated sexual violence, the Indian Bishops Conference said Thursday.
Jalandhar Bishop Mons. Franco Mulakkal is to be replaced by Mons. Agnelo Rufino Gracias, auxiliary bishop emeritus of the Archdiocese dof Mumbai, the conference said.
Mons Mulakkal has been answering police questions since Wednesday in the police HQ in Kerala, sources said.
Indian Bishops Conference chief Cardinal Oswald Gracias said the replacement was named "with immediate effect".
