(ANSA) - Rome, September 18 - The head of magistrates union
ANM, Francesco Minisci, told the Senate justice committee
Tuesday that the government's bill boosting legitimate
self-defence could lead to "DIY justice".
"There's a risk of legitimising murder...of creating a
do-it-yourself justice," he said.
"It would be opportune to stop and reflect," Minisci said,
reiterating that the current law is a good one.
"There's no need for further legislative intervention," said
the ANM chief.
The bill would introduce rules similar to the US stand your
ground laws where virtually all forms of self-defence on one's
property are deemed legitimate.
