(ANSA) - Rome, August 13 - Italian defence ministry sources have said that a return of obligatory military service for young people is not on the cards after Interior Minister Matteo Salvini proposed it. "(Defence) Minister (Elisabetta) Trenta expressed her opinion on this subject days ago," the sources said.
"It's a romantic idea but our military personnel are, and must remain, professional and there is agreement with Salvini on this".
