(ANSA) - Rome, November 15 - The Lower House on Wednesday gave final approval to a law to protect whistleblowers who report illegal activities within the organizations they work for. The law beefs up protection for public sector whistleblowers and introduces new forms of protection for those working in the private sector. It passed with 357 votes in favour, 46 against and 15 abstentions. Raffaele Cantone, the head of Italian anti-corruption authority ANAC, on Wednesday hailed the approval of the law. "It is a civilised law because those who report illegal behaviour that they have learned of in the workplace cannot be left alone," Cantone told ANSA.
