(ANSA) - Rome, June 7 - Italian President Sergio Mattarella has signed a decree reintroducing the obligation to have children vaccinated for school admission, ministry sources said Wednesday. As a result 12 vaccinations will be obligatory for school admission for children aged up to six.
Italy has suffered an upsurge in measles cases amid growing vaccine skepticism.
Some have blamed past statements by members of the 5-Star Movement (M5S) for contributing to this skepticism, which has seen vaccine coverage rates drop.
The anti-establishment group has denied being against vaccines.
