Adjustment in national interest - Padoan (2)

(ANSA) - Rome, February 22 - Economy Minister Pier Carlo Padoan said Wednesday that Italy's debt/GDP ratio "has finally been stabilised but it is in the national interest to reduce it with an adjustment contained in the process of consolidation".
    Padoan was speaking after the publication of an EU letter warning it may start an infringement procedure unless Italy makes a 0.2% budget adjustment by the end of April, the equivalent of 3.4 billion euros.
