Raggi inaugurates area after six years of work

(ANSA) - Rome, November 16 - Rome Mayor Virginia Raggi on Wednesday opened the Circus Maximus archaeological area after six years of work. "For the first time the archaeological area of antiquity's biggest spectacle structure are open to the public," the city said.
    "After 2,800 years of events, today the treasures of Circus Maximus will be finally revealed to envelope citizens and tourists in timeless splendour". The Circus Maximus was originally an ancient chariot racing stadium. It is still used to host events and concerts today. "Welcome. It's important to have given the city back such a precious area, which has been subject to restoration since 2009," Raggi said.
