(ANSA) - Ragusa, September 26 - A woman accused of killing her eight-year-old son in 2014 told her trial on Monday that she was innocent and reiterated her accusation that the boy's grandfather was the real killer. "I'm ready to be punished, but for what I have done and not for what I haven't committed," Veronica Panarello said. "If I have responsibilities, I'll pay, but the person who actually committed the crime must do it with me - my father-in-law". Panarello is accused of strangling her son, Loris Stival, and of throwing his body into a pit near the family home in the small Sicilian town of Santa Croce Camerina on November 29 2014.
She previously told investigators that the boy's paternal grandfather Andrea Stival strangled Loris because the child had seen them having sex and had threatened to tell his father.
Stival has denied the accusation and called Panarello mad.
