(ANSA) - Naples, September 12 - Police on Monday clashed
with protestors demonstrating against a visit to Naples by
Premier Matteo Renzi.
Leftist city councillor and anarchist squat member Eleonora
De Majo was hit on the head by a truncheon as she led some 30
protestors against the police in Galleria Umberto I, just across
from the San Carlo opera house where Renzi is due to arrive at
21:00.
Demonstrators let off red flares and unfurled a banner from
the Insurgencia squat.
Other police units clashed with another group of protestors
nearer the opera house, as demonstrators tried to break through
a cordon.
