(ANSA) - Rome, August 29 - Ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi on
Monday denied "a fanciful reconstruction" by Italian newspapers
of an alleged plan to revive a deal on political ground rules
with Premier Matteo Renzi. Berlusconi's centre-right Forza
Italia party, he said, was only willing to back the government
on measures to help quake-hit central Italy. The former deal
between the two leaders ended when Renzi backed Sergio
Mattarella as Italian president against Berlusconi's wishes.
