(ANSA) - Venice, August 25 - Organisers for the 73rd Venice
Film Festival announced Thursday that they have cancelled the
August 31 gala dinner and beach reception that traditionally
follow the festival's opening ceremonies, in mourning for
victims of Wednesday's earthquake in central Italy.
In a statement, organisers expressed "our deepest
sympathies for the victims, as well as heartfelt solidarity and
closeness to the hard-hit communities".
