Man shoots sick wife dead (2)

(ANSA) - Carpi, August 22 - An 83-year-old man on Monday shot to death his 83-year-old wife, a long-time Alzheimer's sufferer. The man, Pierino Corradini, then phoned his daughter who called police. The victim was named as Maddalena Pavesi. The couple had been married for over 60 years. Corradini was arrested. The incident took place at Carpi near Modena. Local daily La Gazzetta di Modena said Corradini was well-known in the town because of his activity for blood-donor association AVIS.
