ISIS wrote Sirte was 'gate to Rome' on walls

Most of Libyan city liberated by militia loyal to Sarraj

Redazione Ansa

(ANSAmed) - Cairo, August 12 - ISIS fighters scrawled on the walls of Sirte that the Libyan city was "the port of the Islamic Stare, the starting point for Rome... with the permission of God," according to militias loyal to Fayez al-Sarraj's national unity government. The graffiti was photographed by the militias, which have liberated most of Sirte, and posted on Facebook.
Other photos showed destroyed buildings, well-equipped militiamen marching in the street and celebrating in areas won back from ISIS, including the Ouagadougou centre, which was the jihadist group's headquarters in the city.
