(ANSA) - Florence, July 28 - Organs were donated on Thursday
from the body of an 18-month-old girl who died after suffering
heat stroke when she was left in a car for three to four hours
in the coastal town of Vada in Livorno province.
The child's body has been transferred to the forensic
medicine department at Florence Meyer Children's Hospital where
it will most likely undergo an autopsy, ANSA sources said.
The mother told police she had a "memory lapse" on Tuesday
when she dropped her six-year-old off at summer camp and then
went to work instead of taking the younger child, who was also
in the car, to nursery school first.
It was only at lunchtime that she remembered her youngest
was still in the car, and alerted emergency services.
