Carabinieri detain 17 'fake invalids'

(ANSA) - Naples, July 20 - Carabinieri arrested 17 people accused of making fraudulent claims for disability benefits in dawn raids in Naples on Wednesday, ANSA sources said. The overall fraud amounted to around 1.7 million euros of public money, the sources said. The fake invalids included people who had certified paralysis but were filmed shopping at discount supermarkets, they said.
