(ANSA) - Istanbul, May 31 - An Italian citizen died on Monday in Turkey after falling during an excursion in the district of Karasu, in Sakarya province, 200 kilometers from Istanbul, sources at the Italian consulate confirmed to ANSA on Tuesday.
The victim has been identified as Alessandro Angelucci, 34, from Pescara.
Angelucci taught Byzantine history at the University of Pescara-Chieti and was in Turkey as part of the exchange program Erasmus Plus.
He reportedly fell into a ravine after losing his balance.
