Italy saves 500 in Libya boat wreck, at least five dead

(ANSA) - Rome, May 25 - The latest in a series of disasters has taken place in the southern Mediterranean with the capsizing of a migrant-boat carrying over 500 people off the coast of Libya. The Italian Navy intervened with its Bergamini ship, launching life boats and throwing life jackets into the water. The Navy managed to save 550 people, while five dead bodies- not seven as reported earlier - were recovered. Searches are continuing for other possible survivors.
