Parents accused in baby death 'bought car that day'

Prosecutors says

(ANSA) - Milan, May 4 - The parents of a nine-month-old baby girl who allegedly died of maltreatment bought a car on the day she died, a prosecutor told their trial Wednesday.
Marco Falchi and Olivia Beatrice Grazioli, accused in the death of Aurora, bought a 9,300-euro car "on the very same day of the death," said prosecutor Milano Cristian Barilli, presenting a purchase document.
The pair, who risk 24 years in jail, are accused of keeping Aurora malnourished and in dirty hygienic conditions, causing her death through "serious dehydration" and "chronic and acute under-nourishment" that resulted in cardio-vascular arrest. The car purchase contradicts the couple's assertion that the condition of the child were not due to deliberate maltreatment but to their alleged poverty, the prosecutor said. Aurora died on the night of 27-27 February last year.
