(ANSA) - Vatican City, May 2 - Pope Francis is to celebrate a special Jubilee of Mercy for street people from November 11 to 13, the Vatican said on Monday. Thousands of people are expected to attend the event from all over Europe.
"This time of pilgrimage and meeting will enable the most fragile people in our society, who often find themselves excluded, to discover that their place is in God's heart and at the centre of the Church," the organisers said in a statement. The programme includes catechism on November 11 and Mass with Pope Francis on November 13. There will also be a prayer vigil led by Cardinal Philippe Barbarin, archbishop of Lyon. 150 people living on the streets of France made a pilgrimage to Rome and met briefly with Pope Francis in October 2014. This event gave rise to the association 'Brother', which is organising the present Jubilee. The pope's year-long extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy ends on November 20.
