Over 180,000 migrants landed in Europe in 2016 - IOM

(ANSAmed) - Istanbul, April 22 - Some 180,245 migrants and refugees have landed in Europe across the Mediterranean since the start of the year, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) said Friday. Some 154,227 arrived in Greece and 24,927 in Italy, while just over 1,000 came to Spain and 28 to Cyprus. The estimated deaths at sea have risen to 1,232 including the feared 500 or so off Egypt earlier this week.
