(ANSA) - Milan, April 20 - Northern League MEP Gianluca
Buonanno has been convicted of racism after calling Roma the
"dregs of society" on TV last year.
Buonanno, who has courted controversy with many public
statements on Roma and criminals, was sentenced to pay court
costs and a 6,000 euro fine.
The Roma and Sinti activist group NAGA hailed the sentence
as a "victory" for its suit against the rightwing populist
politician.
