(ANSA) - Milan, February 19 - Finance police reported 38
hospital directors in Varese to Milan's Audit Court on Friday,
following an investigation that revealed 2.5 million euros in
unpaid emergency room visit bills, ANSA sources said.
The investigation looked at about 200,000 nonurgent
code-white ER visits between 2003-2014.
It revealed that about one in three patients didn't pay the
required 25-euro fee for code-white visits, while other patients
weren't assessed an additional surcharge required for using the
ER for nonurgent medical exams.
