(ANSA) - Catania, February 12 - Three people were placed on house arrest Friday in an investigation into 62 city employees allegedly involved in absenteeism in Acireale, just north of Catania on the eastern coast of Sicily, police said.
All 62 are accused of fraud and falsification for allegedly having colleagues clock them into work when they weren't actually present.
Investigators placed 12 under obligation of signing in with police, and the remaining 47 were issued citations but not placed under police supervision.
