(ANSA) - Milan, February 8 - A court on Monday sentenced three South American nationals to sentences of up to 16 years for a machete attack on a train conductor in Milan last June. Another three defendants were acquitted. Victim Carlo Di Napoli almost lost an arm in the brutal June 11 machete attack on him and his off-duty colleague at Milan's outlying Villapizzone train station.
    Milan prosecutors had requested prison sentences of eight to 14 years for all six defendants in the attempted murder trial.
    The stiffest sentence was sought for Salvadorean national Jose' Ernesto Rosa Martinez, 19, who wielded the machete.
