ISTAT sees 'uncertain' manufacturing recovery

(ANSA) - Rome, February 5 - Uncertainty in the manufacturing sector recovery is set to continue for a few months, ISTAT national statistics bureau said in its monthly economic bulletin Friday. The construction sector experienced "the first positive results" in the fourth quarter of 2015, ISTAT added. November industrial production and turnover were -0.5% and -1.1% respectively, compared to +0.5% and +1.9% in October. January manufacturing confidence was down slightly due to "worsened expectations on orders and production". Market services confidence also fell on negative economic expectations across all sectors, while large-scale retail distribution is experiencing "a significant deterioration" of sales expectations, ISTAT said.
