(ANSA) - Rome, February 3 - Stefano Pilati has stepped down as creative director of Ermenegildo Zegna with immediate effect, the brand and the designer said Wednesday.
Pilati was appointed three years ago as head designer of Ermenegildo Zegna and creative director of Agnona to develop the label's women's wear line.
    He left Agnona last July.
Pilati said he had considered his decision for a while and after talking to Gildo Zegna - whose grandfather founded the company as a wool mill in 1910 - concluded that the mission he had been entrusted with had been fulfilled.
"It ha been an honor to work with this extraordinary family company," he said The former creative director of Yves Saint Laurent is now on the market and yet another top fashion house is looking for a head designer.
Top fashion houses without a creative director include Dior.
Raf Simons left his post on October 22 last year after three years.
Fashion insiders say the 47-year-old Simons, who said he resigned "for personal reasons", might join Calvin Klein.
