(ANSA) - Palermo, February 2 - Rome police on Tuesday
arrested a 40-year-old priest who allegedly sexually abused
three children in Palermo. The arrest follows a probe that
uncovered alleged abuse of two brothers, aged 13 and 15, who
went to a Palermo parish the priest worked at. The abuse
allegedly started during a pilgrimage abroad and continued at
the boys' home after the priest had worked his way into the
trust of their mother. It was the mother who subsequently
learned of the abuse and reported the priest. The investigation
unearthed another victim, who is no longer a minor but was at
the time of the alleged abuse. Among the evidence police
gathered was a chat conversation in which the priest allegedly
confessed to having had a moment of weakness during the
pilgrimage.
