Rome expecting 50,000 pilgrims for Saint Pio reliquary

Secured area in historic centre and two schools to be closed

(ANSA) - Rome, February 1 - Rome authorities are expecting 50,000 pilgrims for a February 6 procession leading to St.
    Peter's Square for viewing the reliquaries of St. Pio, better known as Padre Pio, and St. Leopold, according to an ordinance released by Rome Commissioner Francesco Paolo Tronca's office on Monday.
    A prayer vigil for the reliquaries is scheduled to take place February 4 at San Salvatore in Lauro church.
    The ordinance said the area surrounding the church's square will be secured starting at 7 a.m. on February 4 through the afternoon of February 5. That area includes Alberto Cadlolo elementary school, which will remain closed February 4 and 5.
    Pio IX pontifical school on via dei Cavalieri del Santo Sepolcro will be closed February 5.
