MPS posts first profit in 5 yrs (2)

(ANSA) - Milan, January 28 - The troubled Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS) bank returned to profit in 2015 after five years in the red, posting a net profit of 390 million euros in 2015, the bank said Thursday. MPS's last positive balance sheet was in 2010. MPS has gone through a string of scandals and has taken a battering recently due to its high ratio of non-performing loans (NPLs).
