(ANSA) - Milan, January 22 - The Milan stock exchange made
more gains on Friday amid bullish trading on the European
markets after reassurances from European Central Bank President
Mario Draghi on Thursday.
Milan's FTSE Mib index was up 1.78% in early trading on
Friday, after closing up 4.2% on Thursday to recoup some of the
heavily losses suffered earlier in the week.
The shares of some Italian banks that had been the centre
of concerns about the number of non-performing loans they are
laden with performed well again on Friday after registering big
rises on Thursday.
Leading the way was troubled lender Monte dei Paschi di
Siena, which was up 9.11%
On Thursday Draghi said the ECB's interest rates will stay
long for a long time and that the bank is ready to do everything
possible to lift eurozone inflation towards its target of
slightly under 2%.
