(ANSA) - Vatican City, January 18 - The "external order" guaranteed by security personnel during the Jubilee cannot fail to benefit "internal" order, "permeated by serenity and peace", Pope Francis said Monday.
"Our encounter today is all the more significant because it comes in the context of the Holy Year of Mercy, an event of spiritual importance that has already brought many pilgrims to Rome from all over the world," the pope told managers, officers and agents of the Inspectorate of Public Security at the Vatican and managers and officials of the State Police. "You … are also called to a greater commitment to ensure that the celebrations and events linked to the special Jubilee take place properly and profitably," he continued. The pope's special holy year of mercy opened on December 8 to extremely tight security in the wake of the attacks by Islamic fundamentalists in Paris in which 130 people were killed.
