(ANSA) - Rome, January 28 - Italian police on Monday arrested five Chinese nationals on suspicion of robbing textile firms and restaurants and kidnapping a two-year-old for ransom.
The suspected gang was active in Liguria, Emilia Romagna and Tuscany, police said.
All the suspects have criminal records, including the babysitter of the abducted boy, police said.
Police believe the five belong to a gang that carried out at least one burglary in August in the coastal town of Rapallo and may have committed several more in the Emilia Romagna, Liguria and Tuscany regions.
The multiple arrests were carried out overnight in the cities of Bologna, Prato, and Santa Margherita Ligure.
