(ANSA) - Rome, December 9 - Italy has climbed eight places
in a global transparency ranking, Italy's Civil Service Minister
Marianna Madia announced Wednesday.
The country secured 17th spot in the 2015 'Global Open
Data Index', which assesses the state of open government data
around the world.
This marked a significant improvement on 2014, when Italy
came in 25th position in the ranking.
"The aim is to enter the top 10 most transparent countries
in 2016," Madia wrote on Twitter.
By Christmas, a 'Freedom of Information Act' decree, which
will allow members of the public to access government
information, will come into force, she said.
