(ANSA) - Milan, December 7 - Anti-immigrant, anti-euro Northern League chief Matteo Salvini said Monday he is happy about the strong showing of the far-right Front National (FN) in French regional elections. "This is just the beginning," Salvini told ANSA. "Let's say this is the last warning - if Europe doesn't change and if we don't rewrite all the treaties...this Europe is finished".
Salvini added he will invite FN chief "Marine Le Pen, the Austrians, the Flemish people, the Poles, the Hungarians and representatives of other European peoples" to a January meeting.
"We will present our proposal for a Europe that is an alternative to (German Chancellor Angela) Merkel, to (Premier Matteo) Renzi, to the bankers and the economic despots," Salvini said.
Earlier on Monday, the FN said it stands with Italy's Northern League "We share the great struggle for the return of national sovereignty, against immigration and against the European Union with (LN chief) Matteo Salvini," FN second-in-command Florian Philippot told ANSA in Paris.
