Calabresi to take over after leaving La Stampa

(ANSA) - Rome, November 25 - Ezio Mauro said Wednesday he will stand down as editor of La Repubblica after 20 years on January 14, the 40th anniversary of the foundation of the Rome-based left-leaning newspaper.
    Mauro, 67, is believed to be heading into retirement.
    Mario Calabresi, 45, on Wednesday resigned as editor of the Fiat-controlled Turin-based liberal daily La Stampa and said he would take up the reins at La Repubblica.

    On Thursday La Stampa said it had appointed Middle East correspondent Maurizio Molinari, 51, to replace Calabresi.
