Zingaretti ex-cabinet chief on trial for Rome mafia (2)

(ANSA) - Rome, November 11 - The former cabinet chief of Lazio Governor Nicola Zingaretti was sent to trial Wednesday in the Rome mafia affair. Maurizio Venafro was indicted along with former leftwing cooperative manager Mario Monge for alleged bid-rigging. Venafro asked for a fast-track trial. The request was granted. The Rome mafia affair concerns a suspected criminal organisation that allegedly muscled in on city contracts including the management of Roma and immigrant camps as well as urban upkeep.
