(ANSA) - Rome, November 2 - The Italian government on Monday reiterated its denial of claims by officials in Tobruk that three Italian Navy vessels entered Libyan waters on Sunday.
"The news given by Tobruk is false," Defence Minister Roberta Pinotti told State broadcaster RAI. "Our ships, which are patrolling the Mediterranean, were in international waters, well away from Libyan territorial waters". Ibrahim Dabbashi, the representative to the United Nations of the Libyan government in Tobruk, distanced himself from the allegations. "Before making the accusation that three Italian warships entered Libyan waters, you needed evidence to confirm it," Dabbashi told ANSA Monday. "Up to now, there is none. "If it were true, it would be very serious. I don't think the naval units were Italian".
