(ANSA) - Florence, October 27 - An appeals court on Tuesday sentenced Sicilian financier Salvatore Ligresti, former head of Fondiaria-Sai insurance and asset management company, to two years six months in prison for corruption in connection with the planned development of Florence's Castello neighborhood.
The appeals court thus reversed the acquittals of Ligresti and four out of five co-defendants at their trial of first instance.
Also convicted were former city councilmembers Graziano Cioni and Gianni Biagi - who was found guilty at his trial of first instance of bid-rigging and abuse of office - architect Marco Casamonti, former Fondiaria official Gualtiero Giombini, and businessman Aurelio Fontani, who got two months for misappropriation.
