(ANSA) - Milan, October 6 - Some 60% of Italians have taken steps to curtail or eliminate food waste by reusing leftovers, paying greater attention to expiry dates and asking for doggy bags at restaurants, according to research by farmers' association Coldiretti presented at Milan Expo on Tuesday.
However, the situation remains "of concern", Coldiretti added.
On average, Italians throw away 76 kg of food per person per year, the study found.
"Solutions need to be found," Coldiretti said, adding that buying food directly from producers helped contain waste.
