(ANSA) - Milan, September 29 - The UK pavilion inspired by a beehive has won the international prize for architecture at Expo 2015 awarded by the International Institute of Architecture In/Arch and the national builders' association ANCE, it emerged Tuesday. The pavilion designed by British artist Wolfgang Buttress is a "fervent hymn to nature conservation", the jury said. In it, "engineering and construction technology, design, art and architecture have come together in a subtle poetic dialogue that allows us to still dream of a better world".
"The UK pavilion is among those that have best interpreted the Expo theme of feeding the planet," the jury concluded. The Cluster pavilions also received a special mention for allowing "smaller countries to take part in the Exposition".
Likewise, the pavilions of Brazil, Chile and Morocco garnered praise for their "architectural quality and clarity of construction" and "reversibility" and "for showcasing technologies typical of their countries".
