(ANSA) - Milan, September 29 - Two employees of Milan city council were among four people arrested Tuesday in connection with a probe into suspected kickbacks on construction contracts in the Lombardy capital, police said.
The two municipal staff were named as Giuseppe Amoroso and Angelo Russo, both working in the building maintenance department.
The other two arrested were a former manager on the council, Luigi Mario Grillone, and the boss of a construction company, Marco Volpi.
The staffers and the former manager were said to have been silent partners in the construction company, Professione Edilizia Srl.
After retiring from the council, Grillone was said to have become an agent for the construction business.
Documents were seized at council offices and from Aler, the Lombardy company for residential construction.
Those arrested are suspected of racketeering and corruption, police said.
