S&P says Italian recovery only lukewarm, Draghi says QE could be 'amplified'

Growth held back by low salaries, high unemployment

(ANSA) - Milan, September 23 - Standard & Poor's said in a report on Wednesday that Italy was out of recession, while stressing that the recovery was not very strong. "The Italian economy is finally emerging from recession after three and a half years of contraction," the rating agency report said.
    "Nevertheless, the recovery is likely to be lukewarm because of low salary growth and the high rate of unemployment, which hold back consumer demand more than in other eurozone countries".

European Central Bank President Mario Draghi told the European Parliament's economic and monetary commission Wednesday that the ECB "will not hesitate to act to address changes in inflation prospects..the bond buying plan (QE) provides enough flexibility...to be amplified and lengthened if necessary".
